The Technology

Each DataDot is the size of a grain of sand and is laser etched with a unique identifying code. Hundreds of the tiny dots are applied onto the protected asset using an ultraviolet adhesive. Although nearly invisible to the naked eye, they can be found easily by using a simple ultraviolet light. The DataDot database is accessible by Law Enforcement agencies 24 hours a day, allowing instant identification.

DataDots work by indelibly marking every asset to which it is applied, with a unique code.  This code is able to be recorded on the DataDot International Database and matched with other asset and ownership identifiers.  In some cases the code is the primary manufacturers identifier - for example a car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). All other applications use a random Personal Identification Number (PIN).
