Origin of DataDots
Microdot technology was originally developed and used during World War II as a spy technology. In the 1990's the technology was developed further for commercial application as DataDot Technology. Hundreds or thousands of DataDots are produced with a single identification number etched on to each and every DataDot through state-of-the-art technology. The identification number is stored on the DataDot Database which Police have access to. Any item you own that you have applied DataDots to can be traced back to you by simply reading the identification number and cross checking the Database.
The tiny DataDots, 1mm in diameter, are suspended in a water soluble ultra-violet sensitive adhesive. Once applied to an item it is almost impossible for a thief to remove each and every DataDot, so in effect, your DataDotted items are permanently identified as being yours!
